What Happens After I Close Read?

The Purpose of This Project

After my seminar with the Technology Fellows program, I found that while many composition and rhetoric instructors are excited and eager to use technology in the classroom, literature instructors have not embraced technology in the same way.

One of the main problems I face as an instructor is how to teach close reading and make it more accessible to students with little or no experience. I am interested in utilizing wikis and wiki-editors to provide a tool for students for practicing close reading.

I chose the wiki form because of its collaborative nature. I want students to understand that the reading of texts can be a group effort. Since close reading can be a daunting experience for the inexperienced, I hope to illustrate how a supportive community of fellow readers can inspire ideas.
